Rust Dying

 I have been rust dying fabric for over 20 years.  It’s always exciting to unwrap a new batch and discover what markings have been created. 

I have collected a lot of different rusty objects which gives me a lot of choice when trying to create unique surface designs.  Sometimes I will go to the desert and use abandoned cars to rust larger pieces.

Over the years I have been refining my process to gain more control of the outcome and maximize the markings, but I will admit, the accidents and unintentional marks are often the best.
